History Of Fungie

In 1983 An extraordinary and curious visitor decided to come to Dingle Harbour, This amazing Dolphin befriended the local fishermen as the went fishing in Dingle harbour and Bay.

As media frenzy ensued after a few years they named him "Fungie" The Dingle Dolphin and now 29 years on and this wild Bottlenosed Dolphin has chose to make Dingle harbour his home permanently it seems . Fungie has never been fed by humans in order to induce him to stay or perform , He is just interested in playing around with the Boats which go out on tours to see him or any other small craft that comes his wayto play.

Fungie is said to be in the region of 30 yrs now , Dolphins can live up to 60 yrs apparently in the wild and He is approx 13ft in length and weighing over 250lbs.
