Bus Éireann (0667123566; www.buseireann.ie) provides daily coach service to Dingle from all parts of Ireland. The boarding and drop-off point is on Upper Main Street.

If you're driving from Tralee to Dingle, follow R559, or take R561 from Castlemaine.

Visitor Information

The Dingle Tourist Office is on Strand Street, Dingle (tel. 066915-1188). It is open seasonally, usually mid-April through October. Regular hours are Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm (extended and Sun hours in peak summer season).

Getting Around

Dingle Town has a population of only 1,200 and thus is too small for a local bus service. Bus Éireann (0667123566) provides service from Dingle to other towns on the peninsula.

The best way to get around little Dingle Town, with its narrow, winding, hilly streets, is to walk. The street along the waterfront is Strand Street, and aside from that, it has three other main streets -- Green Street, John Street, and Main Street. Once you've figured those out, the rest will follow easily.

To see the sights beyond the town The Slea Drive, drive west along R559 or take one of the sightseeing tours.

Kerry Airport (KIR)

Location: 40 miles from Dingle Town, a journey of approximately 1 hour. 12 miles (19km) from both Killarney and Tralee. Taxi services are available to both these towns and to the nearby railway station. All major Car hire companies are represented.

Kerry Airport is a regional airport centrally located in the heart of County Kerry in the spectacular southwest of Ireland. The size of Kerry Airport allows passengers quick and easy access to all its facilities in all areas. Within 20 minutes of arriving at Kerry Airport, passengers can expect to have collected their luggage, hired their car or boarded their bus and be in a position to leave the airport.

Shannon Airport (SNN)

Location: 110 miles from Dingle Town, a journey of approximately 3 hours. 16 miles (26km) west of Limerick. Bus services are available to and from Limerick approximately every hour. A daily express coach travels between Limerick and Shannon. All major Car hire companies are represented.

Cork Airport (ORK)

Location: 100 miles from Dingle Town, a journey of approximately 2 hours. 5 miles (8 km) southwest of Cork city. Buses travel between the city centre and airport (approx. travel time - 15 minutes). Airport facilities include outgoing duty-free shop, bar and restaurant. Facilities are open during operational hours. All major Car hire companies are represented.

The closest rail stations/depots to Dingle are located at Tralee and Killarney. Both of these stops are on the same line, approximately 45 minutes travelling time apart. As in many towns, the rail and bus depots/stations are housed in the same location, making bus transfers easy, and travel timetables for both services are posted here.

National Travel - Bus Eireann - Bus

Regular bus services into the Dingle Peninsula are run by the major national carrier, Bus Eireann (Irish Bus). Bus Eireann has a nationwide network of buses serving all cities, towns and villages in Ireland. Services run from Tralee and Killarney to Dingle, with stops at Inch, Castlegregory, Camp, Annascaul, and Lispole. The Bus Stop in Dingle Town is located at The Tracks, adjacent to the new pier. In Winter and Spring, when the region is not as busy, Bus Eireann has a service a few times a week to the Gaeltacht area, west of Dingle. During the busy tourist months there is a daily bus serving the area west of Dingle, with stops at Ventry, Dunquin, and Ballyferriter.
